Microsoft Copilot is a powerful tool that can be extended with connector actions to enhance its functionality. In this article, we will explore how to add connector actions to Microsoft Copilot and integrate it with Teams for seamless workflow integration. By following the step-by-step guide outlined below, you will be able to extend Copilot with connector actions and improve your productivity in Teams.

Prerequisites

Before we begin, there are a few prerequisites that you need to meet in order to extend Microsoft Copilot with connector actions. Make sure you have the following:

  • Maker-level credentials
  • Copilot license
  • Microsoft Teams license

Adding a Connector Action

To add a connector action to Microsoft Copilot, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Copilots option on the home page.
  2. In the Copilots list, choose the Microsoft-branded copilot experience you want to extend.
  3. Depending on the Copilot you selected, go to either the Actions or Extensions tab.
  4. Select the option to extend the Copilot with an action.
  5. Choose the Connector option to extend with a connector action.
  6. On the Select your connector page, you will see a list of available connector types. Use the search bar to find the connector you want to use.
  7. Select the connector type and choose a solution from the dropdown. The solution is used to store your connector and allows for easy movement across environments.
  8. Next, you need to select and configure the actions you want your connector to support. There is no limit to the number of actions you can select.
  9. After selecting an action, provide a name and description for the action. The description should be detailed and specific, allowing the Copilot to identify when to invoke the action.
  10. Repeat the action configuration steps for each action you want to add.
  11. Once you have configured all the actions, you can test your connector by selecting the Test action option. This will open the Copilot chat in a new window where you can try out the prompts and validate the functionality.
  12. After testing, select the Publish option to publish your connector. An administrator will need to enable it before it can be used in the Copilot.

Deleting a Connector Action

If you need to delete a connector action, follow these steps:

  1. Open Copilot Studio and select the environment used to create the connector action.
  2. Under Copilots, choose the Copilot where the connector action was created.
  3. Select the Actions tab to view the list of actions associated with the Copilot.
  4. Take note of the solution name associated with the connector action.
  5. Go to the Maker portal and select the environment used in Copilot Studio.
  6. In the navigation panel, select Solutions to view the list of solutions.
  7. Locate the solution used for the connector action and select it.
  8. Find the connector action in the list of objects associated with the solution.
  9. Before deleting the action, delete the dependency on the AICopilot_AIPlugin table.
  10. Return to Copilot Studio to verify that the action is removed from the Actions view for the Copilot.

By following these steps, you can easily extend Microsoft Copilot with connector actions and integrate it with Teams for a streamlined workflow experience. This integration will enhance your productivity and allow you to accomplish more within Teams.
